Light boxes and letter storage

Have a look at any teaching page at the moment and you will quickly realise that light boxes are very 'in' right now. It helps that you can pick up this one from Kmart for only $19! I would recommend getting the extra letters set also so you aren't so limited.

As any teacher (or future teacher) knows, the key to an organised classroom is storage. I needed to find a way to store all of these letters that allowed me to easily, and quickly, find the ones I need.

The solution? A business card holder!

They work perfectly, the letters each have their own individual pocket and you can easily find whatever you are looking for.

While we are on the topic of letter storage, how do you store all of your bulletin board/ display letters?

A CD case works fantastically, I love my matching set!

They work in the same way as the business card holder, a pocket for every letter to make them easy to find.

Hopefully these tips can make your life a little easier too!

Flower clock

I have seen so many fantastic clock displays on Pinterest that help students learn to tell the time by providing visuals of the parts of time. I really wanted to make one that would match the decor I am planning for my future classroom (chevron/chalkboard) so I found a template here and made my own.

This template provides both colour and outline only versions, so you can make one to match any classroom theme. To make mine I printed the stem and leaves onto green coloured paper. For the petals and pot I first printed my chosen digital papers (heaps to choose from online), you could also use plain coloured paper or scrapbooking paper, which would work well if you can only print in black. I then printed the outlines, laminated it all, and cut everything out. The clock I used was only $3 from Kmart, but any round clock would work.

My study space

As my journey starts as a student, I thought I would write my first post as a student and what better place to start than where I study. Just this month I created a new study space, I used to do all of my study on the couch with my laptop, but found I needed space to display bits and pieces.

On the left is a repurposed baby change table that I use to hold all of my resources, laminator, guillotine and printer. I have a full size pin board and a half sized magnetic whiteboard, both from ALDI, I still have to hang these.

I am loving this new space, I find that I am more motivated to sit down and study now that I have a dedicated (and comfortable) space to do this.
